Ghillie Brogues

Description

A nice Highland shoe to wear with your Sport Kilt.  Leather upper with non-slip rubber sole. Long leather laces for the classic tie around the calf.

Background: Ghillie brogues are essentially a brogue with holes similar to a wing-tip, with no tongue and a long lace. The holes allowed the shoe to drain while sloshing through the bogs of Scotland. The long laces wrapped around the ankle to keep the shoe from getting stuck in the mud.

How do you tie the laces? First, snug up the laces, then twist ’em a couple of times before taking them to the rear of the ankle. Then twist them a couple of times at the rear of the calf, then wrap the laces completely around the ankle once or twice and tie in bow in the front or side.

And aye! Walk proudly, Lad!

(Note – these are stiff leather and can use some breaking in. The run fairly true to size, perhaps a little on the small side due to the stiffness.)
